Halo 3 Tips
Want to get a better game experience when playing with a team of players?
Playing Halo 3 with a team is more effective and more fun when you follow these Halo 3 tips.
Don´t Use Grenades Too Close To Your Team Mates
When the pressure is on in a battle situation it´s easy to panic and throw a grenade at a group of attackers but keep a close eye on where your team mates are located. Don´t just blindly throw grenades at the red dots in the radar screen. Wait until you´re sure your team mate is not running to that location or engaging and opponent there or you could wipe him out. When team mates are fighting in close proximity it´s better to use your weapon. If you feel you absolutely must use a grenade, give them a heads up at least so they can have a chance to get out the way and don´t ever try to throw any type of grenade past an ally when they´re strafing to avoid fire, they will just bounce your frag off course or get stuck.
Communication
The most important thing in a team based game is communication and it can literally make the difference
between a fun, fluid game and a disaster. Study and know the maps and the names of the locations ahead
of time so you can be descriptive and to the point when talking to players. So instead of saying, ” I have an
attacker on my left.”, give short, precise calls that state the Opponent’s Health (Full Shields, One Shot),
Opponent’s main weapon (Sword, Rocket), Opponent Location (To nearest weapon spawn or “landmark”) and other
possible obstacles (Health Regen, Other nearby teammates, Waiting around a corner).
For example: “Sword, One Shot, by rocket spawn. Watch out for nearby teammates”.
Don´t be hesitant to speak over the chatter if what you have to say is going to save a team mate.
Better to butt in now then after they have died.
Stick Together
It´s really important to work as a team and stay close to each other but not on top of each other.
Too close together and you´re vulnerable to attack and too far apart and and your defenses are weakened.
You don´t want to be a lone wolf on the battlefield without a team mate watching your back, on the other
hand if your opponent spreads out too far, pick them off one by one and if they group too close together,
throw a grenade at them and rack up some Over Kill Points. Your best strategy is to always know where your
team mates are at all time and keep plugged into that information when planning attacks and movements.
Your radar spans about 25ft so if you stay within that range it´s an easy sprint to help a team mate.
If you lose contact don´t be afraid to ask where your team mate is located.
Rushing the Red X
Although it might be tempting to try to pick up the scraps of one of your teammates for a free kill or two,
rushing the red X is a bad strategy in team games for a couple of reasons:
Unless you are very close to that spot, the enemies Shields will be recharged by the time you get there.
This isn’t really a problem in free-for-all because you don’t get the red x, so if you see somebody get killed,
you are probably close enough to get that scrap kill.
In a team game, any team worth its salt is going to be working in pairs and maybe more so your chances of
getting even one kill before you get killed is slim.
* Avoid doing this by simply not chasing the Red X. Keep playing your game and don’t allow the lure
of quick kills to blur your vision to the goal at hand – to win the game for your team. If you are within
one second of their location, scrap it up, otherwise just continue on with what you were doing. Although it
is not recommendable to chase kills like this it is not a bad idea if you have no current objective are are
well-informed about the situation that can give you an edge just like entering any other combat.
Feeding the Other Team
“Feeding” refers to trying to break an enemy stronghold by yourself or when outnumbered and after failing,
trying again and again. If you keep rushing into a heavily guarded area by yourself, you are going to die 99%
of the time, you will not even a kill before you die. So here’s what happens, you run into the area by yourself
and to try to help you out, your team starts to follow you in. You arrive first and die, then one of your
teammates arrives a second or two too late and dies as well, then a third teammate gets there a second too
late again and he dies. By now you are Re-spawning and you see that your teammates are in there so you rush
again but they are dead by the time you get there and you get killed again. This continues until your team
regains its composure and stops rushing in there but by then the other team has scored at least 3-5 kills or
maybe more if you keep doing it (hence the name feeding because you are just feeding into their trap and
feeding their score) and your team will be disorganized. I’ve seen more big swings in momentum in team slayer
as a result of this than anything else and is a really easy way to blow a solid lead.
* Avoid this by never going into an enemy Stronghold without a strategy involving your entire team.
In order to rout them from their stronghold, you will need to attack as a team and work as a team. This bad
habit is (like I said above) a very quick way to lose control of a game and cause a rapid swing in the score.
* Feeding is also especially bad when someone takes the Power Weapons with them on their suicidal mission,
giving the opposition not only a kill but the tools to get more.
